Follow Up Fading?
How a haircut inspired a story about not letting your follow up fall through
The Follow Up Fade.
And how several blades, pairs of specialty scissors, and a buzzing sound in my ear inspired this writing.
I got my haircut yesterday.
Just another Monday. 430 pm I was scheduled.
Carlos came to get me, walked me back to the chair, got me draped with the cover and then the clicking and clacking started with the razor machines as he about to put the blades to my skull.
I get a 7 on top with a zero fade on the sides midheight.
Mind you, the lady cut my hair before at this same place lost my business because she started to take cutting my hair for granted and the cuts began to suck.
So I “cut” her off (see what I did there)
Carlos’ attention to detail and consistency are on point every single time.
Now, here’s where this gets fun.
I know the outcome…because I get the mirror and have my first look at the end of him doing his work and the result is always the same.
That’s what I want.
Stick with me here as this relates to follow up.
You see, when he starts he begins to shave down the back of my hair first and shape the V on the back of my head…
I’ve seen what it looks like.
Funny. Not there yet. Scary lookin like this guy below.

Far from the finished product.
It doesn’t look good.
But this is only the beginning of his process.
