Dig Deeper
Stop chasing what’s out there and start digging where you stand
Story time…
Ali Hafed was a wealthy man who owned a beautiful farm with orchards, crops, and a stream running through it.
He was very content until a traveling priest spoke of some sort of diamonds.
“Diamonds,” the priest said, “are the most valuable thing in the world!
With just one handful, you could buy a country. They’re found in distant lands, hidden in the earth.”
That night, Ali Hafed went to bed poor…he now believed he was missing everrryyyything.
So, he sold his land, left his family, and began a lifelong search for diamonds.
He crossed deserts.
Climbed mountains…dug in riverbeds…he found nothing.
Years later, broke and broken, he threw himself into the sea.
Back at home, the man who bought Ali Hafed’s farm noticed something standing out in the stream.
A black stone with a glimmer.
After inspecting it, lo and behold, it was a diamond. In fact, the land Ali Hafed had sold was sitting on one of the richest diamond mines in the world.
Now, for some follow up fortune.
Are you Ali Hafed?
Every day, is it about chasing the next new lead?
The next shiny object. The “high ticket” client that must be out there somewhere.
And what happens, the existing ones mostly get ignored.
Skipping follow-up thinking, “If they didn’t buy right away, they didn’t want it anyway.”
“They will come to me.”
Check this out.
Maybe you heard this before…the fortune is in the follow-up ;)
The “diamonds” are sitting quietly in your logs, your sent folder, your LinkedIn inbox, the phone calls you need to make - waiting for you to use that shovel and dig.
The best part is you don’t even need to travel the world for it to work out the way you want it to.
No worries about a govt. shutdown and flights getting canceled.
Not one bit.
Go back to the people you’ve already connected with - the ones who almost bought…who didn’t get back to you…who showed interest originally but something came up…who told you to F off…I’m tellin ya, hey things change… ;)
However you define fortune for yourself, that fortune is within reach.
If you stay in the game long enough to unearth it.
Until next week Follow Up Fam.
